A picture of Dr. Rudolph

I have been in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at The Citadel since 2003. Prior to coming to The Citadel, I worked for 7 years as a Software Engineer and Architect at Motorola, Inc. in Arizona. I received a Ph.D. from Brigham Young University in 1995, with a specialization in Neural Networks and Machine Learning.

I am interested in how machines can learn and adapt without being explicitly programmed by humans. I have recently been working on household robotics and adaptive algorithms for cyclic combinatorial designs.

I also enjoy martial arts, Lego Mindstorms and chess.

This summer's robotics course at the Governor's School saw two firsts: This was the first time we used the Lego NXT system in the class, and this was the first time the course had been offered to rising 8th-graders. I am so pleased with what the students achieved. For more information, go to my SSP Robotics 2007 web page.
